I recently created a pH spectrum lab. What is that you might ask. We started out by placing red cabbage juice (which was a pH of seven) in an erlenmeyer flask. Then we added drops of acids and bases (.10 ml a drop) into the juice to see the rise and fall of the pH. We found that the higher and the lower the pH level you got, the more drops it would take to change. For example, in the beginning of the lab, each drop of acid changed the pH level by -1. As we got a lower pH, it would take more drops. It took 7 drops to change the pH from 4 to 3. This lab was incredible because you could witness the pH level of a liquid change right before your eyes. In the photo above, you notice the different pH levels. The left side is more basic, and the right side is more acidic. This here is a photo of a phone screen at 40x magnification. The colorful rectangles are not from the app but the phone screen! #microimage2
